San Salvador, El Salvador - PROformance Hawai'i (girls) and BEST Center Sports (boys) of the Philippines are the World Champions of the inaugural United Nations of Basketball (UNB) U17 World Team Skills Championships! Both clubs made history as winners of the UNB's first event and global competition. The UNB was founded in 2020.
PROformance Hawai'i beat the BEST Center Sports girls team in the head-to-head female final by dominating the agility and ball handling drills, while the Filipinas took the shooting drill with five of the top eight scores.
In the boys final, BEST Center Sports won all three drills in impressive fashion over their Spanish counterparts from Molina Basket Club. BEST Center Sports posted the top five, six and four scores in the agility, ball handling and shooting drills, respectively.
The boys of BEST Center Sports were also the overall champions between the two winners taking home the FanApps grand prize of a free mobile app for their club (design, development and hosting-$2,000+ value) for one year. It was close however, as the PROformance Hawai'i girls beat the boys in the ball handling drill.
The UNB World Team Skills Championships tipped off December 5th with UNB Member Nation boys and girls teams participating from the Philippines, Spain, Samoa, Palestine, Romania, Lebanon and Hawai'i.
Congratulations to all the participating teams!
